Positioned inside of the David Rubenstein Forum at the University of Chicago Campus is one of Hyde Park’s newest restaurants – BARDAVID Restaurant.
BARDAVID is a cozy and top-notch restaurant with ambience that is welcoming and charming with terrific large glass windows view of the stunning exterior scenery of the Midway Plaisance Park. This 74-seat bar and dining room serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisines and exclusively curated wine list and handcrafted cocktail. The restaurant is opened for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is grab and go only.
BARDAVID Restaurant is managed by executive chef Marco Bahena. A Chicago native, Chef Bahena is a graduate of the School of Culinary Arts at Chicago’s Kendall College. He previously worked at Martín Berasategui, a 3-Michelin star restaurant in the Basque region of Northern Spain.
According to Chef Bahena, few of the popular items on the menu are the Steak Frites charred beef bavette, herb oil, kennebec frites, and chantrelle butter ($26); naturally gluten-free Panisse (Chickpea flour fries) which are served with herb panisse, parmesan, piquillo pepper aioli($7); Basque chicken croquettes with prosciutto and a slightly spicy brava sauce ($11); the Tuna poke is served with ahi tuna, wakame, radish, marinated cabbage, edamame and nori ($14); Roasted Salmon served with grain mix salad, roasted broccoli, harissa miso glaze and kataifi ($19); and the Moroccan Lamb Shank served with black lentils, pickled eggplant, curry yogurt, and mint salad ($26). According to the chef, the preparation of the Lamb Shank takes three days.
